Small team. Hard line. Real hardware.
Sunset Research and Development LLC designs autonomous detection systems for civilian and non-lethal training use. We print the airframes, write the perception code, and verify every layer ourselves.
Sensing. Never striking.
All work is detection, autonomy, simulation, airframe and training systems. No targeting for harm, no lethal systems, no weapon mounts. Any task that crosses that line stops and is escalated to the owner.
Human, animal and vehicle recognition; motion detection; situational awareness.
Guided navigation, geofenced, failsafe-first, under a licensed remote pilot.
FAA Part 107 operations, Remote ID broadcast module, daytime VLOS, site authorization.
From charter to first hover.
Company charter
Mission, non-lethal hard line and agent organisation set down. First codebase, protocol and Detector interface written.
Airframe families
4Quad, Harrier, DeadCat, HexCopter and the trans-medium concepts. Test #1 build package: 50 STLs, schematics, parameters, bench plan.
Printing begins
4Quad PLA set sliced for the Bambu A1: plate, trays, mast and booms.
Knowledge base & v2 parameters
Eleven sourced domain briefs; flight parameters re-verified against the Copter 4.6.3 source; companion system-id fix landed.
Bench test → first hover
Nine-stage bench sequence on the 3S pack, then first hover with the v2 parameter set.
Part 107, waiver prepared
Operating under FAA Part 107 from a private airpark with HOA authorization. An altitude waiver application is prepared for occasional test climbs above 400 ft. Remote ID by broadcast module.
